After finding out your expecting, the second thing that usually comes to mind (the first thing is whom to tell first and in what order) is; what shall we name the baby?  Of course, everybody has their own suggestions, and you have to choose a name for both sexes; just in case the doctor made a mistake during the ultrasound.  Ultimately the name you choose will be something not only you, but also your new bundle of joy will have to live with for the rest of his/her life.  Below are some helpful hints, to ease your decision making process.

- Andrew Seth Smith, sounds innocent enough, kind of makes you wonder what is wrong with this name? Think initials! We'll just leave it at that.

- If you don't know the sex of your baby, have at least two names picked out for either sex.  The mental reasoning behind that is; you might love a specific name, but when your baby finally rears his/her head, she might have a personality that doesn't quit meet the name that you have chosen for her/him. Even if you do know the supposed sex of your baby, still have more then one name ready, just in case.

- Does the name you have chosen roll of your tongue? Or does your tongue have to do flips before the actually pronunciation comes out?  Don't make your child a laughing stock of the school, by naming them Julia Gulia (anyone who has seen The Wedding Singer, can attest to that.)

- Never, ever name your child, after someone who makes you queasy when thinking of them. And never ever name your child, after an ex.

- Letting the older children name their siblings, might not be such a good idea. Can you image calling your new baby, Barney or Tinky Winky? Probably not, but your youngsters might think that it would be fun to have Elmo for a brother or sister.

- When at a loss, you might want to refer to a baby naming book, such as Baby Names Keepsake by Anne Geddes.

To get your started, below the ten most popular names for girls and boys born in 2001.
