We should not forget the attrocities committed by Muslim emperors on Patel and due to which we had to leave fertile land of Punjab. We should not forgive any political party who goes for Muslim Appeasement... I am proud to be a Patel..

It is great to come from a grand history...it is too bad that behavior of Indians (including patels) have gotten so classless and that of commoners....parents who encourage childrens bad behaviors (be it lying about their childs extra ciricular activities, funding late night bar hopping activities even after they are married, laughing when your 6-10 year old can properly use a curse word, etc..) are leading to a lot of boys and girls (raised around respectable educated people...regardless of race) not getting married or looking for equally respectable boys or girls regardless of whether they are Indian or not.  This is the reason why a lot of kids are marrying out...it is about survival of the fitness...even though we can not hold onto some of the great history and class that Patels come from the more successful well respected kids are creating a new avenue/way of holding onto the respect tradition and beliefs by marrying morally better people with similar values...b/c coming from a name that has class means nothing if people who represent the name are classless. Kudos for the stronger smarter new respectable Indian community that is emerging.

This article contains very useful information. Leva Patidar community is divided in small fractions everywhere. I am a Marathi Leva Patidar. Our ancestors migrated from the Charotar region some 300 years ago to KhandeshJalgaon Dist.and VaradBuldana Dist.in Maharashtra. There are around 110 villages of Leva Patidars in this region.We are also divided in small gors.But the difference is fading away now-a-days. We all should work towards discarding the barriers and fractions and unite and reconnect as a single entity. Otherwise our community is at a risk of losing its identity.

In UK we have an umbralla body formed and called it Federation of Patidars Associations and open to join as as Patels Patidars Amins Desais etc and other groups like Kadwa Patidar Kanam Vakal Patidars Kaach Leva Patels etc.It is our combined wish to make our community stronger and progressive to unite all the above bodies.
